Zinnia Folk Arts Summer Table
It's summer! Here's a little round-up of Mexican folk art entertaining, travel and gift inspiration.

+Let's start with my favorite recipe for Margaritas on the rocks. The absolute best part is that these delicious drinks can be made in a pitcher, so you're not slaving away making them one by one. So good.

+At our last Cinco de Mayo event, we served a layered bean dip with chips and lots of people asked for the recipe. Here it is. I substitute Sour Lean for the cream cheese. And for those of you on plant-based diets, this one's for you.

+Mexican themed weddings keep getting more and more popular. Follow Zinnia's Mexican Weddings Pinterest Board if you're looking for ideas.

+Wedding gifts? So many unique, happy, good ideas in our shop. Here's one here, here and here.

+You're the bride? What about these beauties?

+One of the most impressive times to go to Oaxaca is during the Guelaguetza Festival at the end of July. If you enjoy seeing Oaxaqueños in their beautiful, pueblo-specific dress and enjoy dancing of all types, GO!

+Non-alcoholic drinks are amazing too. How about the wonderfully refreshing jamaica or hibiscus flower tea?

+Where to get hibiscus flowers? I buy them either at Cinco de Mayo Mercado at 38th and Nicollet or Marissa's Supermarket on Eat Street in Minneapolis. And I love perusing the aisles for other delectables.

+Another must-do trip for folk art lovers, is the Santa Fe International Folk Art Festival over the weekend of July 10-12.

+ If you go to the Mexican mercados, you can get the ingredients for elotes and esquites (corn in a cup). They are two delicious additions to any summer meal.

+A couple ideas for crafty projects with the kids on those rainy days--make an Ojo de Dios, gorgeous paper flowers, or how about a Frida inspired flower headband.

+Do you know people who are living with folk art?

+Over the last 8 years, I've figured this out by trial and error but here's how to use your iPhone outside of the United States.

Have a great early summer and see you in the shop!
