Exceptional handwork on these Mexican blouses handmade in the remote village of Bochil, Chiapas. This short-sleeved blouse is constructed in the traditional square, unfitted way of huipils from a gorgeous indigo blue linen. It is then "bordado" or embroidered on a back strap loom in the traditional Mayan iconography depicting the universe in a way only very skilled Mayan women can do. The work is like tapestry work, with what is called a "supplementary weft." The linen is a soft linen, cool in summer.  These are medium size blouses but are meant to be somewhat loose. They look stunning with with straight-leg or skinny jeans! Yes, it will need ironing but it's so worth it. Truly beautiful.

Wash in cold water, hang to dry. May need a little ironing, if you care about that.
