Beautifully handmade pillowcase from Chiapas, Mexico. Woven on a backstrap loom in beautiful periwinkle background cotton (not store-bought manta!) and embellished with a supplemental warp of Mayan symbols in red and multi-color designs. The red thread on the periwinkle makes the color appear like a rose pink. But when placed on the the red chair, the color combination looks read. It reflects an artist's knowledge and familiarity with color. The textile is then made into a pillowcase in an envelope style with two braided ties at the bottom. This is a lovely, hand made accent pillow. Handwoven in San Andres Larrainzar.
