Zinacantán, a small town close to San Cristóbal de las Casas in the mountains of Chiapas, is home to some of the most beautiful textiles of Mexico. You may be familiar with the small shawls, "chals" or "rebozos" woven from traditional purple cotton thread. This is a table runner woven in the traditional purples of Zinacantan but striped with a black and white warp. I believe the colorful diamond shaped designs crossing the runner, were machine stitched in the most perfect colors to coordinate with the striped runner. This is a lovely runner.
