This long string of Mexican or Guatemalan wedding beads, made of nickel silver or alpaca (an alloy of copper) is entirely handmade. The beads are hollow with cut-out designs throughout, and strung together by thin open links made of finely twisted alpaca wire. It's very long and has no closure. People love it because it makes a strong statement while being lightweight.
It's said that these are wrapped around bride & groom while exchanging vows. This one is the perfect length to wear long, or wrap twice (or even 3 times) around your neck.
These are shiny and new, recently purchased in Oaxaca, Mexico.
