This medium-large sized poncho was handwoven in Chiapas, Mexico on a backstrap loom. Two woven panels of the eggplant with small white stripes embellishing the neck were hand stitched together to form a very easy wearing, casual look. The black hand embroidered trim around the v-neckline finishes the poncho so elegantly. It is open on the sides. It also features twisted tassels at the bottom.
The concept is one that comes from the ancient Mayan way of making a huipil or overblouse with updated colors and a beautiful cotton drape. Looks fantastic with jeans. I tried it on.
