Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

I come across older earrings made in Mexico, usually Taxco, in various and sundry places. I don't know the maker of these earrings but they are alpaca, stamped with "Alpaca" on the back. Alpaca is the same as nickel silver so if you're allergic to nickel, these are not for you! I used to purchase this type of earring in Mexico City. It is inlaid with shell on a pretty black scalloped shape earring. This is an older pair and is very nicely made!
