This is a life size (to fit over a small human head; not the size of real tiger head!) leather tigre or jaguar mask used in the famous, Dance of the Tigres, in Guerrero, Mexico. This mask stands on its own and features the yellow leather with black tiger stripes, real boar bristles for whiskers and faded red lips, red tongue and ears. The eyes in this one are not mirrors, but look like tin. A conversation starter!
This amazing piece was purchased in the 1990's by a local Mexican folk art collector.
