Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

The active imagination of this folk artist comes to life in these three paper mache sculptures. The two devils and a skeleton, ride horses of different colors with rope tails and rope bridles. The figures are riding on a paper mache scooter--the wheels do not turn. The figures do separate from the scooter and the heads of the horses are removable. So much work and care went into these whimsical toys--not for children but for adults to enjoy with a smile.
Each one is one of a kind.
