The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

These are whimsical nacimientos or nativity scenes handmade in Ocumicho. This group appears in a clay basket. They are very rustically painted in bright analine paints. All of them feature Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus and an angel. The decorations are mostly flowers and greens. Each one is one of a kind. Made of clay, fired at a very low temp and painted in vibrant colors. Very fragile.
