Exquisite handwoven, striped Mexican rebozo from the tiny town of Pantelho, Chiapas. The women from this little town create the most beautiful striped pieces of textile in the world (in my humble opinion). Here is one of them. These are long "rebozos" or shawls that can be used as a table runner or as a gorgeous wall hanging. Or how about pillows? The color combination of red, carmel, fuschia and off-white is stunning. The colors are achieved with natural dyes and it was purchased at one of the many Women's Coops in San Cristobal de las Casas. It was woven on a back strap loom. The edges are embroidered with Mayan symbols and then the ends are twisted to add just a little more deliciousness.
