These alpaca, or nickel silver, earrings were handmade in Patzcuaro, Michoacán by Luis García Jiménez. The alloy is not silver but a combination of nickel, copper and other elements and looks like silver. These earrings are a slightly darker version of alpaca than that of Guanajuato. They cannot be made more shiny. The hammered alpaca filaments are woven and placed above and below a typical smooth crescent shape earring. You can either wear it with or without the ear hook. Unique!
