Another beautiful and ornate sterling silver earring made by Taxco artisans about 3 hours south of Mexico City. This is a very pretty traditional earring, modeled after those of the Mazahua, with a flower at the top, attached to some cup dangles and a silver "gote" or drop in the middle. The gote is surrounded by delicate filagree and then just to add a little more movement to the earring, there are cup dangles at the bottom. It has a slight patina, making it look old. Imagine making the filagree exact with a small pliers and you'll have an appreciation of how much time and care goes into these handmade earrings! This is a large earring but very light weight.
