One-of-a-kind small clay painted catrinas with the traditional large hats with feathers. These pieces were handmade in Capula, Michoacán. I purchased them from a young man from Capula who was exhibiting at the Semana Santa Folk Art Festival in Uruapan. Catrinas were popularized by Jose Guadalupe Posada at the turn of the 20th century and for that reason the women typically wear the garb of the day. It is not signed. Clay catrinas are extremely fragile. The heads are removable. The dresses vary in color and design. One of a kind.
