The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.
The shape of this Mexican Talavera bowl is known at the workshop as a "sopero" because it can be used to serve soup. But I see it as a perfect bowl for serving pasta, small sides at the dinner table or as an individual salad bowl. It's bigger and more shallow than a cereal bowl, more the size of a pasta bowl. Our Talavera is food-safe, lead-free and can go in the microwave or oven. We recommend hand washing.
