The whimsical Last Supper sculptures of Ocumicho are always one of a kind and always super imaginative. This is one I purchased during the Semana Santa folk art mercado in Uruapan. It is a single piece sculpture on a large white base. The table is laden with a one-eyed fish, pan dulces, empanadas and bananas. The 12 "disciples" depicted as colorful devils, are sitting around the table, with their hands in the air, eating watermelon. All Ocumicho pieces are fired at a very low temperature in a wood burning kiln and are very fragile. It's heavy too. But how charming. For more information about the amazing sculptures of Ocumicho take a look at this article.
