The whimsical Last Supper sculptures of Ocumicho are always one of a kind and always super imaginative. This is one I purchased during the Semana Santa folk art mercado in Uruapan. It is a single piece sculpture on a small blue base. The table is laden with pan dulces, fruits and bananas. The 12 disciples, two sitting above because they wouldn't fit around the table, are holding a pieces of bread. All Ocumicho figures are fired at a very low temperature in a wood burning kiln and are very fragile. This one has a cracked leaf only visible from the back, as in the photo. It's heavy too. But how charming. For more information about the amazing sculptures of Ocumicho take a look at this article.
