Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

This is a very pretty medium-large sized arracada earring from central Mexico. It is made of .925 sterling silver and is oxidized to make it appear older. It's quite light and has a traditional wire in the hole clasp. The cut tin and leave design in the center are enhanced by the 3 teardrop gotes at the bottom. I'm not sure what happened to the mate but this is a single earring!
THIS IS A SINGLE EARRING, NOT A PAIR.
Arracada earrings do not sit perpendicular to the head. They are meant to sit slightly angled in the ear and for that reason you will not see the design of the earring when you are looking straight on. The design is visible from the side.
