Holy Week or Semana Santa is a special time to be in Mexico, especially in the rural towns of Michoacán and Oaxaca. On Palm Sunday or Domingo de Ramos the many palm leaf vendors line up outside the churches to sell their handmade palm leaf decorations and hundreds, if not thousands, of people line up to buy and process into the church to have their palm decoration blessed. I bought these beautiful folk art pieces featuring the Virgin de Guadalupe, on my most recent trip to Uruapan for the Semana Santa Folk Art Festival. Lots of glitter and artificial flowers. The last pictures show the scene outside of the main cathedral on the zocalo in Uruapan.
