These small Mexican wooden nicho boxes, painted in various colors, are filled with milagros surrounding a red painted sacred heart. Milagro means “miracle,” and these tiny religious charms are generally used to offer thanks or request spiritual help for a specific problem. Each box is filled with a different assortment of milagros, which are made of pot metal and hammered onto the wood. (Pot metal is a combination of inexpensive metals that are melted together and then placed in a mold to shape them into the milagros. They are a silver or gold color but are not made of silver or gold.)
These all are one of a kind due to the different milagros. The corners are decorated with a pot metal flourish.
