This is an exquisitely woven and embroidered Mexican huipil handmade in Aldama Magdalenas, Chiapas, Mexico. This short-sleeved blouse or "huipil" is constructed in the traditional square, unfitted way of huipils from a heavier cotton. It is then bordado a mano or embroidered in a traditional design. This is a boxy medium size and is meant to be somewhat loose. Wash inside out in cold water, air dry and then light pressing. Sides are closed in brightly colored stitches. Colorful design on thin white and red striped background, tie at the neck with pompom closure. This is a masterpiece.
Photo of one of the women at the coop I visited wearing her huipil. Each one is unique.
