These are gorgeous, antique huipiles, or over blouses, handmade in the Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Frida Kahlo's mother was a Tehuana and Frida was inspired though out her adult life to wear and promote the beautiful handmade blouses of the region. I selected and bought these in Oaxaca and they are all in excellent condition. The background fabric is velvet. The flowers are hand embroidered onto the velvet. The lining fabric is shown in the photos. They can be worn or displayed.
The sizes are small to medium. They are basically a square shape but they are slightly fitted and shorter than a Guatemalan huipil.
