Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

Do you wear belts? This is a really beautiful hand woven cintura or belt was made some years ago in Saltillo, Mexico. A local collector bought it years ago on a trip to Mexico. The colors are bright and vibrant, the weaving is precise and well done. There is one small area of looseness--it is still woven and cannot be seen through or even poked through with a finger. See the last photo. The fringe is in excellent shape and it's flax or linen, I believe. The composition is lovely! It would be awesome as a belt or an amazing textile for display on a table or wall.
