Expertly handwoven, striped table cloth or camino de mesa (tablerunner) from Guatemala. I was recently in Chiapas, a Mexican state very close to Guatemala. So many of the gorgeous Mayan textiles are woven either in Guatemala or in Chiapas. This is a more of "camino de mesa" that can be used as a table runner, a small tablecloth or as a gorgeous wall hanging. The color combinations in the stripes are predominately a deep indigo blue background with lighter blue, red and fuschia stripes and then multicolored embroidery of Mayan bird symbols on top. It was woven on a back strap loom. It is two pieces sewn down the middle. The tassels are uneven in their length but could easily be trimmed. It is very flowy and has a touch of something synthetic to give it an lovely drape. Could be used as a rebozo.
