Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

These very sweet versions of the Michoacán painted chair can be used for display in a shop or home. I used them in the brick and mortar shop to display all kinds of things like jewelry, small ceramics, postcards, paper products. They are old and they are faded, part of the beauty. The red chair has a loose wicker seat but it doesn't detract from it's charm. Red chair is larger than the green.
