Traditionally, the textile skills in Mexico centered primarily on clothing. Mexican traditional dress has evolved significantly but has kept many elements of pre-Hispanic style. Current handwoven textiles reflect a combination of different materials, motifs, garment styles and methods of creation. Some Mexican communities have worked with contemporary textile designers to make their products more marketable to the global home decor and fashion market.
