The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.

These small nicho boxes, or portable shrines, were hand made in Peru. They are constructed of a wooden box, simply and nicely painted in the typical Peruvian motifs. Flowers adorn the outside of the cheerful little box. The doors close nicely and open to display a scene of two skeletons drinking in a bar surrounded by jugs of and bottles of alcohol--all made of potato paste. YES, potato paste. This is a craft that is found in Peru, made most famous by the Jimenez family. These two boxes are similar, almost identical except for the colors of the bottles on the top shelf.
Two available.
