Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

These brightly colored, muy Mexicano caminos de mesa or handwoven table runners were made in Chiapas. I purchased them in San Cristóbal de las Casas, in the great textile-making center of Chiapas. Each runner features a sophisticated color combination. The textured weave appears on both sides, so you can use either side!
