Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

A lovely round, silver, layered sunflower or "girasol" with either a narrow drop or "gote" OR three small silver cup dangles made of silver which dangle and move at the base of the earring. Handmade near Mexico City. The silver is oxidized to make it look old but these are new earrings. Sterling ear wire. I have a pair that I wear at least once per week. They are a great earring that can be dressed up or down. Lovely!
