Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

These are rustic, handmade traditional calacas/skeletons with colorful sombreros. They are toys but not really meant for small children. Each is unique and wears a different color hat. Made in Mexico City. They are paper mache and have a shiny, glossy finish. Very whimsical and muy tradicional for your ofrenda or to charm up a bookshelf.
Both available skeletons have blue hats. One has a damaged hat and neck. The other has a damaged neck. They were squished during shipping from Mexico to Minneapolis. They came a long way and perhaps someone will want to minister to them!
