Day of the Dead Decoration, As Is

Regular price $ 12.00   On Sale $ 9.00

This unusual folk art comes from Oaxaca and is used during the Day of the Dead celebrations to decorate loaves of bread, or pan de muertos. Most of the decorations I've seen are much smaller (1-2") and are stuck into the loaves of bread to represent a soul that will be returning during this special celebration.

This particular piece is large and has some charming detail in the hat--including a small loaf of bread (pan) with a mini soul sticking out of it and several flowers. All of it is made of bread dough! It almost looks and feels like wax but it is made of dough that dries and holds its form. This piece was broken in shipping and has been glued back together (see the last 3 photos.) I love the color and the glitter eyes!
