Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

The beautiful laca work of Chiapas is displayed in these lovely flowered black wooden crosses. Artisans cover the wood with an organic mixture of plants and insects, which results in a wonderful soft-looking black background. The crosses are then painted with the vibrant colors of Mexico -- lots of flowers and leaves. This is a very traditional style typical of the great state of Chiapas.
Please allow us to choose the individual cross for you. The crosses in the photos may be sold out as we do not photograph every one--they are all unique and all beautiful!
