The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.

These beautiful quite large wooden hummingbirds are made and signed by the Xuana family of San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca. They are carved from one piece of wood, not pieced, as most Oaxaca hummingbirds are.
If you are familiar with the Xuana pieces, they are exceptionally well done both in the carving and the painting. These charming carvings are exquisitely done, carved from a single piece of copal wood. The painting is another amazing example of the color combinations and design sense of the Xuanas. The dots and sophisticated color choices on the body painting are signature style of the this very collectible artwork from Oaxaca.
They can be hung from the small hook on the top. Fishing line comes attached on most.
