Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

Another whimsical idea from this Oaxacan folk artist! A paper mache skeleton in gold lame pants rides a unicycle while juggling balls in the air with his giant hands. The skeleton sits straight when his right foot is tucked under the pedal of the unicycle. Brilliant! So much work and care went into these whimsical toys--not for children but for adults to enjoy with a smile. Charming hand made folk art from Oaxaca.
One of a kind.
