Traditional Mexican Silver Jewelry

Posted by Anne Damon in Mazahua, Mexican silver jewelry, Taxco

Most people know that Mexico is famous for silver jewelry and most people associate that jewelry with Taxco. Taxco is a mecca for silver lovers--the streets are lined with silver shops. But did you know that there are other cities in Mexico that are home to silver artisans?  Mexico City, Puebla, Oaxaca and several other towns are home to many men and women who make traditional hammered and filigree silver earrings like their predecessors learned from the Spanish conquerors.  The craftsmanship of these silver earrings is exquisite. Some of them have clips and others are for pierced ears.

  • Hello, I’ve searched for a long time to fined these half crest hoop earings they have little raised flowers around the half silver crest. My friend has 2 pair of them and I see them on little Mexican girls all the time and I love those earings but can not find them. I would want them to be small like for a little girl as I can’t wear large earings. You can not find those earings any where here. I was told by a lady the other day that had the large ones on to ask for size #0. I hope I described them so you will know what ones I’m talking about? There is no mesh on them they are solid like I said with the half crest and little time raised flowers.
    Thank you, Pamela couch
