Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

These beautiful handmade and hand painted plates are a bit larger than our 10" plates (um, 1.5" larger) and many people think of these as a dinner plate. Each one is painted individually, in their own unique pattern. And they go together even if the design is not identical, because of the cobalt blue edge and the same color palette. We have a variety of designs as seen in the photos. Click on dropdown to see pattern by name.
Our talavera is food-safe, lead-free and can go in the microwave or oven. We recommend hand washing.
