Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

Zinacantán, a small town close to San Cristóbal de las Casas in the mountains of Chiapas, is home to some of the most beautiful textiles of Mexico. These small shawls, "chals" or "rebozos" are woven from traditional purple cotton thread. The warp also features the shiny warp threads in red, silver and blue. After it is woven, it is machine-embroidered in the most amazing floral designs. Each one is unique and all of them are especially beautiful. I handpicked them. Each one features the beautiful, large tassels that are used to tie the shawl around the shoulders. The tassels can be removed, if you like. Some of the edges are scalloped and others are not. Some have embellished edges and others do not. Beautiful as a table runner or a wall hanging. Be creative...
These child size chals are perfect for displaying on a wall or they can be opened on the sides by untying the tassels. The chal will lie flat on a table with the small neck hole in the middle.
