This beautiful black owl was carved and painted by Victor and Jesusita Xuana of San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca. The background of the owl is black and then the feathers are painted in blue, white, gold and the face, bright pink. If you are familiar with the Xuana pieces, they are exceptionally well done both in the carving and the painting. This owl features the teeniest tiny dots and dashes and is another gorgeous example of how small the dot painting of the Xuana family can get. The dots and sophisticated color choices on the body painting are signature style of the this very collectible artwork from Oaxaca. No one else does it like the Xuanas in Oaxaca. Signed.
