The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.

Brightly painted clay cacti handmade in Puebla, a state east of Mexico City. These whimsical little cacti are often added to nativity scenes made of clay figures. They are miniature versions of the nopal cactus or what we know in the Southwest U.S. as prickly pear cactus. The "limbs" of the cactus are movable. This group is the cactus only, without the white bird.
