Tiny Carved and Painted Animal Masks, Xuana
These tiny, Oaxacan wood carvings are made by Ana Xuana of San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca. If you are familiar with the Xuana family's pieces, they are exceptionally well done both in the carving and the painting. These small animal masks feature a dots, dashes and colors hat are exquisitely done. The meticulous attention to detail on the face painting are signature style of the Xuana family. I don't know what kind of animal they are--use your imagination!
