These tiny, Oaxacan wood carvings are mostly made by Flor and Abad Xuana of San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca. One of them, the slightly larger gray burro, was made by Victor and Jesusita Xuana. If you are familiar with the Xuana family's pieces, they are exceptionally well done both in the carving and the painting. These small animal masks feature a dots, dashes and colors hat are exquisitely done. The meticulous attention to detail on the face painting are signature style of the Xuana family. I don't know what kind of animal they are but I guessed for labeling purposes--use your imagination!
