Ceramics from yesteryear
The Virgen de Guadalupe, milagros, sacred hearts and images are all artistic motifs used in Mexican folk art in every state in Mexico.
The Christmas decorations of Mexico vary by region but are always colorful and festive whether made of tin, paper, wood, textiles or clay.
"Milagro"means "miracle" in Spanish. Milagros are religious charms that are prevalent throughout Mexico and are used to request or thank God for a miracle.

This is a very nice, heavy red cotton men's shirt made in the highlands of Guatemala in San Miguel Totonicapan. It is in perfect condition. Mayan birds and symbols decorate the collar, the pockets, the cuffs, the front piece for the buttons and there is a lovely image on the back. The shirt can be made wider/looser by unbuttoning the sides at the bottom. It would make a lovely holiday shirt for either a man or woman--I'd layer it over a white turtleneck or tee shirt and wear with jeans.
One of a kind.
